'Parched' Snacks: In the old days folks would sit around the woodstove during the winter and toast grains they had             dried, and saved from the harvest, in an iron skillet until they ‘parched’, or partially popped..  The modern version of this snack is     roasted and salted, but maintains the old-fashioned flavor and crunch..  Next time you have a snack attack reach for one of these     crunchy, whole grain alternatives.

Dried Fruit: Drying fruit was a way for the colonials and pioneers to extend the harvest.  By removing most of the water from the fruit, it would keep for months. It was excellent for "road" trips then and now.  The fruit could also be reconstituted to make pies during the rest of the year.

No preservatives or artificial color unless stated. These are great for quick energy snacks or for adding to breads or hot cereals.

Candied ginger (great for nausea/indigestion), sulphured $4.00/lb.

Dried pineapple rings, low sugar, no sulphur.......................$4.50/lb.
